THE UNFOLDING VOYAGE is a multidisciplinary object theater that traces a journey of migration into the US, threading together the shared struggles of Chinese Americans past and present. Through movement, spoken word, and a giant origami boat, the piece features the stories of well-known Chinese American figures whose experiences still echo the sentiments of current immigrants. The piece presents migration not merely as history, but as a living, ongoing push-and-pull of identity, displacement, and belonging—nationally, culturally, and individually.
